5 sustainable UK breaks you will want to book right now!

Eco-tourism, green, responsible, eco-friendly, community tourism – all key words when looking for somewhere sustainable to stay. And with all that in mind, this is what we’ve found…. now to pack my bags!!

Forest Holidays, England & Scotland

Forest Holidays

The natural environment is central to the Forest Holidays experience. Their locations are designed, built and managed with sensitivity to their forest setting, incorporating eco-sensitive features and best practice in order to limit their environmental impact. Part owned by the Forestry Commission they’ve great credentials when it comes to having a responsibility for sustaining and conserving our forests.

The Scarlet, Cornwall

On a Cornish cliff-top, this eco-friendly hotel has thrift-planted roofs, beach-view hot tubs dotting the cliff-face and a reed-filtered outdoor swimming pool. They source responsibly and consider the life cycle of the products and services they purchase. They also support charities like The National Trust and Surfers Against Sewage. Imagine all that and views of cliff, sea and sky at every moment… and there’s a spa, too!

Knoydart House, Highlands, Scotland

A luxury, remote eco hideaway with one of the top hot tub views in the UK, overlooking Loch Nevis. It’s completely off-grid. Along with fabulous recuse, recycle and reduce credentials, environmentally friendly cleaning products are used and all water comes from a private water supply from the hills. It has a market garden where fresh fruit and vegetables can be bought and the local pub serves estate venison, Knoydart langoustines, mussels and hand dived scallops, reducing food miles and encouraging economic sustainability and employment locally. Nice.

Natural Retreats, Yorkshire Dales

Four sustainably designed, award-winning eco retreats  set in 55 acres of pristine countryside in Swaledale. Rurally located but only a short walk from the market town of Richmond. All retreats have an extensive glass wall frontage, designed to bring the natural light, surrounding woodland and meadows to blend the landscape with the interior. They also have similar retreats in Ireland, Cornwall and beyond.

Qbic, London

Qbic Cosy Room

If you’re looking for a the perfect hotel in London for a city break, check out Qbic. It’s rooms are built with sustainable materials. Showers are rain showers (but hot!), the beds are bio-degradable and made from recycled denim, organic lambswool and coconut fibre, even their toiletries are made from a company with the rather catchy name Stop-The-Water-While-Using-Me, and just check out those interiors! Inspired.
